Paramount has announced that its animated fantasy film “Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender” is skipping a theatrical release. Instead, it will debut directly on the Paramount+ streaming service.

The film marks a continuation of the popular TV series and was previously slated for a theatrical release on October 9th 2026. Now, it will land on the streamer sometime in the Fall.

Following on from both the original “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and “The Legend of Korra” series, this is set several years later.

The story follows the beloved character’s young adult years and will feature the voices of Steven Yeun as Zuko, Dave Bautista, Dionne Quan as Toph, Jessica Matten as Katara, Román Zaragoza as Sokka, and Dee Bradley Baker as Momo. South Korean singer-songwriter Eric Nam plays Aang.

Additional cast members have also been announced today with Taika Waititi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Freida Pinto, Ke Huy Quan, and Peta Sergeant also joining the cast in undisclosed roles.

The project is separate from a new animated television series titled “Avatar: Seven Havens” which will consist of 26 half-hour episodes spread across two seasons. That follows a young Earthbender who discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra.

With the title now on streaming, Paramount only has six theatrical releases next year – “Primate,” “Scream 7,” “Scary Movie 6,” “Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie,” “Street Fighter” and “The Angry Birds 3”.
