By Warner Bros. Pictures has picked up the film rights to the Marvel Comics sci-fi title “Alien Legion” with plans to turn it into a space opera franchise.
The stories focused on an intergalactic peace-keeping force operating under the unwieldy bureaucratic Galactic Union that is straining in its attempts to be a melting pot for all species.
Prejudice and bad intentions clash with well-intentioned idealists with characters including ex-slave serpent captain Sarigar, the degenerate Juger Grimrod, and gentle four-armed medic Meico.
Tim Miller (“Terminator: Dark Fate,” “Deadpool”) is attached to direct the project while Aaron Ryder, Don Murphy and Susan Montford will produce.
The film was co-created by Carl Potts, Alan Zelenetz and Frank Cirocco and introduced as part of Epic Comics in 1983 – it became the line’s longest-running title.
The property was previously set up at Dimension Films in the early 2000s but never produced. Jerry Bruckheimer was attached to produce at one point as well. The rights ultimately reverted to Potts.
Miller will next direct the Rebecca Ferguson-led “Best Served Cold”.
