Apple TV+ continues to be the little streamer that could, churning out quality shows while others do things like The Rings Of Power. One of Apple TV’s crown jewels remains Slow Horses. We are a little late to the party on Season 5, as the trailer came out two weeks ago, and it dates this fifth season as landing on September 24th.
Why… that is just next week! What were we just saying about winter being the best time of year for people who like to watch far too much TV? Nothing decent drops in the summer in the Northern hemisphere, going up against big sporting events and people being outside enjoying the weather.
Based on the Slough House series of novels by Mick Heron, Slow Horses follows those banished to the titular Slough House, purgatory for MI5 service rejects who have seriously failed a task but cannot be fired.
Those consigned there are known as “slow horses” and are expected to endure dull, routine tasks, along with occasional verbal abuse from their miserable boss, Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman), who anticipates that they will leave out of boredom or frustration.
Lamb, however, is a Cold War warrior and a proven spymaster, and alongside him these slow horses get accidentally involved in some of the most dangerous threats facing Britain and the world.
It is darkly comic as well as being action-packed, with a jaded and cynical view of bureaucracy and modern politics. As an Outpost favorite, we highly recommend it.

New episodes will drop weekly on the streamer.
