While we wait, and wait… and wait for more movement on a new, cinematic 007 adventure, we do have another dose of James Bond on the way, this time from Hitman game series developers IO Interactive. 007: First Light has now been confirmed for release on March 27th, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

007: First Light was the focus of Sony’s State of Play presentation. The plot was also revealed.

After a heroic act, young Naval air officer – James Bond – is offered the chance to join the Double 0 program. But when a mission to stop a rogue agent ends in tragedy, he must join forces with his reluctant mentor Greenway to expose a deep conspiracy and stop a looming coup at the heart of the State.

The cast of the game includes Patrick Gibson as James Bond, Lennie James as John Greenway, Priyanga Burford as M, Alastair Mackenzie as Q, Kiera Lester as Miss Moneypenny, and Noemie Nakai as Miss Roth.

For those of you with more time on your hands, here is the near-35-minute play-through of the first mission:

The game is now available for pre-order for $69.99, and pre-orders will receive a Deluxe Edition upgrade that includes:

– 24-hour early access
– Four item skins: Gleaming Lighter, Gleaming Earphones, Gleaming Phone, Gleaming Pen.
