We reported a couple of months ago that there was a prequel to Rambo on the way.
Yes, because we need to have everything explained to us and take away that mystery, we have to have a young Rambo movie.
Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo is a cinematic icon that we were introduced to in First Blood. A movie that is far better than it should be, as one man struggles against the local law.
The monologue at the end of the movie is one of the best and moving speeches in cinema.
I need to watch First Blood again now. Anyway, as I said, to take away all the mystery of how Rambo became the mysterious man we met in that first movie, there needs to be a prequel.
Current ‘heartthrob’ (not my words) Noah Centineo has been attached to play young John Rambo. Centineo’s credits include movies like To All the Boys: I’ve Loved Before, which, oddly, I haven’t seen.
The only other movies you might have seen him in are Black Adam, where he played Atom Smasher, and Charlie’s Angels. Oh, wait, that Charlie’s Angels was the 2019 one, not the good one.
Unless, of course, you caught Centineo in Abraham & Sarah, the Film Musical. Anyone?
The new Rambo prequel is being directed by Jalmari Helander, who directed Sisu. That does give us a little hope, but there is no need for a prequel to Rambo. You know he’s going to survive and grow up to look like Rocky.
