Who doesn’t love a good historical drama? For an Outposter of a certain age, they are like the big-budget Discovery Channel, but from a time before the Discovery Channel got really shit and spent all its time focusing on rednecks and abandoned storage lock-ups. Discovery Channel as it was meant to be, when every other show was either about sharks, planes, tanks, or Nazis! Which brings us on to Nuremberg.

Sony Pictures Classics has dropped a teaser trailer for Nuremberg, which tells the historical story behind the famous war crimes trials after World War II. Specifically, this will focus on the events immediately leading up to the trials.

In the Nuremberg trials, the most important surviving leaders of Nazi Germany, who had not escaped to South America, were put on trial for their crimes.

This story is based on Jack El-Hai’s novel The Nazi and the Psychiatrist and features Rami Malek as a psychiatrist who interviews Nazi prisoners to determine whether they are fit to stand trial.

He becomes locked in a psychological duel with former Reichsmarschall Herman Göring (Russell Crowe). It co-stars Michael Shannon as Chief Prosecutor, Robert H. Jackson. Also starring are Richard E. Grant, Colin Hanks, Leo Woodall, John Slattery, Lotte Verbeek, Mark O’Brien, Wrenn Schmidt, and Andreas Pietschmann.

Zodiac and The Amazing Spider-Man writer James Vanderbilt directs from his own script.

Nuremberg opens in cinemas on November 7th.
