Netflix has released a second trailer for Stranger Things season 5, which gives us a first proper look at the final season.
It’s been a while, but season 4 ended with a giant rift opening up in Hawkins, Indiana. Stranger Things season 5 looks like our heroes are dealing with a full-blown invasion of monsters from the mirror world, ‘The Upside Down.’
I noticed Linda Hamilton, a remix of Deep Purple’s epic Child in Time, and the kids not looking like kids anymore.
Return to wonder
We can be a cynical bunch at times, for good reason. Modern movies and TV shows often suffer from poor writing and ideological agendas. I wonder if I’m the only one who notices. Have I reached the ‘old man yells at a cloud’ stage of my personal journey?
But then I watch something like Stranger Things, and I am reassured that it’s not me. The 1980s-set science fiction adventure horror fantasy supernatural drama teen comedy romance is genuinely great. Numerous scenes in season 4 had me on the edge of my seat and feeling like a kid again, with a flush in my cheeks and a cheer for the good guys.

It’s not perfect (hey, what is?), but it gets so much right that I’m here until the end. And the end is nigh. Stranger Things season 5 will be release in two ‘volumes’ in November and December, with the series finale on 31st December. I doubt I’m going to get a better offer, so that’s my new year sorted.
