Netflix has premiered a featurette for the upcoming “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” stage play offering a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming adaptation of its hit supernatural series.
The clip was released as a part of Stranger Things Day celebrations that kick off this year’s Geeked Week initiative at Netflix.
The clip sees cast and crew behind the series talk about translating the Netflix series into this form as it tells an in-canon story set decades earlier than the show’s events.
The story unfolds in Hawkins, Indiana in 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town.
When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach.
The cast includes Oscar Lloyd as James Hopper Jr., Louis McCartney as Henry Creel, Isabella Pappas as Joyce Maldonado, Christopher Buckley as Bob Newby, Ella Karuna Williams as Patty Newby, Patrick Vaill as Dr. Brenner, and Shane Attwooll as Chief Hopper.
Previews commence later this month at the Phoenix Theater in London. Tickets are available up at StrangerThingsOnStage.com
