By Peacock has announced that the “Five Nights at Freddy’s “film has become the service’s most-watched film or series ever in its first five days on the platform.
The film surpassed previous record-holders like “Halloween Ends,” “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” and “Bel-Air,” but a specific audience number was not cited. By the claims however, the film will likely appear on Nielsen streaming charts next month.
The news comes as the film smashed box office records, opening to $80 million domestically and $132.7 million globally to score the biggest horror film opening of 2023, the biggest Blumhouse global opening of all time, the second biggest opening weekend of all time for a film based on a video game, and the biggest opening weekend for a horror film directed by a woman.
That woman is Emma Tammi who has been out talking up the film and tells THR that several questions unanswered by the first film, especially in its final act, could be addressed in subsequent installments.

Tammi quickly says many loose ends were left there on purpose – most notably the fate of both Aunt Jane (Mary Stuart Masterson) and what ultimately happened to Mike’s brother Garrett. She may still be alive, whilst Garrett’s body or shot was never seen.
Tammi says: “I feel like that could also be a nice thing for the fan base to mull over. I’d love to not shut down anyone’s theories. We’re all, including myself, very excited to keep making movies in this universe if we’re lucky enough to do so and this first one does well.”
A sequel to the project has yet to be officially announced by Blumhouse, but at this point seems very much like a sure thing.
“Five Nights at Freddy’s” is now playing in cinemas and is available to stream on Peacock.
