CinemaCon is in full swing, as various studios pimp their wares to a collection of theater owners from across the US. It is usually a good source for a few scoops and trailers… and it is in Vegas. Maybe we should go one year? Anyway, one of those shown was the full trailer for Karate Kid: Legends.
Sony Pictures has put the new trailer up online ahead of the May 30th debut in theaters.
The movie, which brings together the world of both iterations of The Karate Kid, also has a fuller synopsis.
It follows Li Fong, a junior Kung Fu prodigy who is forced to leave Beijing and move to the USA after a family tragedy.
As he tries to settle in with his mother in New York, he struggles to fit in with his new classmates.
He tries not to fight, but trouble seems to find him everywhere.
When a new friend needs his help, Li enters a karate competition – but his skills alone aren’t enough.
Li’s kung fu teacher Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) enlists Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) for help, and Li must learn a new way to fight that merges their two styles into one.
Jonathan Entwistle directs Karate Kid Legends from a script by Rob Lieber.
Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley and Ming-Na Wen co-star.
