Paramount Pictures has set a June 12th 2026 release date for the reboot of the “Scary Movie” franchise. Marlon Wayans announced the date via Instagram on Friday.
Wayans is returning to the franchise with Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans to pen the script and produce. A director, story or cast have not yet been announced for this sixth installment in the franchise. [Source: Instagram]
The Sun Always Sets In The West
“Venom,” “Zombieland” and “Uncharted” director Ruben Fleischer is in talks to direct “The Sun Always Sets In The West” for Lionsgate following the pair having just made “Now You See Me 3” together.
Scott Barkan & Gregg Zehentner wrote the screenplay, but specifics of the plot are under wraps. Norman Aladjem, Ray Moheet and Tim Honigman will produce. [Source: Deadline]
Panic Carefully
Aidan Gillen (“Game of Thrones”), Joe Alwyn (“The Brutalist”), Naledi Murray (“Sweet Tooth”), Ben Chaplin (“September 5”) and Sebastian Orozco (“The Crow”) will join “Mr. Robot” creator Sam Esmail‘s new paranoid thriller “Panic Carefully” for Warner Bros. Pictures.
Julia Roberts, Eddie Redmayne, Elizabeth Olsen, and Brian Tyree Henry lead the cast of the film which involves the hunt for a cyber-terrorist. Esmail (“Leave the World Behind”) wrote the film and will direct. [Source: Deadline]
The Man with the Bag
Awkwafina (“Shang-Chi,” “Crazy Rich Asians”) has been tapped to join Arnold Schwarzenegger and Alan Ritchson in the Adam Shankman-directed holiday comedy “The Man With The Bag” Amazon MGM Studios. The film is set to debut October 3rd.
In the film, Santa’s magic bag is stolen and he turns to his naughty list to find Vance, a former thief, to help him get it back – the group having to pull off the greatest heist of his life to save Christmas. [Source: Deadline]
The Legend of Ochi
The release date for A24’s “The Legend of Ochi” has been pushed back two months, from February 28th to April 25th, as filmmaker Isaiah Saxon has lost his house in the Los Angeles wildfires.
The film will still have its first premiere at the Sundance Film Festival as scheduled this coming Sunday. Saxon makes their feature film directorial debut on the fantasy adventure film set in a remote village on the island of Carpathia. [Source: Coming Soon]
The Bad Guys
DreamWorks Animation has released a new teaser for the new short film “The Bad Guys: Little Lies and Alibis” which will play before showings of the upcoming animated movie “Dog Man” launching January 31st.
The short will see the group of thieves getting stuck inside of a truck transporting a flock of chickens. The short also comes ahead of the full-length “The Bad Guys 2” film which hits cinemas August 1st.
