Despite only have a very brief amount of screentime in the film, Stanley Tucci has revealed that his work on 2011’s “Captain America: The First Avenger” ranks as one of his favorite experiences doing a movie.

Tucci appeared in the film as Dr. Abraham Erskine, the scientist who helps develop the super soldier serum and works in the program alongside young Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper), Colonel Phillips (Tommy Lee Jones) and Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) and uses it on Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), turning him into Captain America.

Tucci was out talking up his awards film turn in “Conclave” with Variety when he was asked about his favourite experiences shooting movies when the topic of “Captain America” came up:

“I loved ‘Captain America: The First Avenger,’ it was one of the greatest roles and jobs I’ve ever had. I was there for three weeks and had a wonderful time, and I also loved playing that character.

I was cast as a 70-year-old man at the age of 50, so that was disturbing, but that’s all right; I was flattered and insulted at the same time … You have to mix it up, as they say.”

While Cooper and Atwell reprised their roles in the “Agent Carter” TV series, Tucci’s character was killed off in ‘First Avenger’ and so hasn’t been seen again in the MCU.

Tucci also says films like “The Devil Wears Prada,” “The Lovely Bones,” “Julie & Julia” and “Supernova” are the ones that stand out for him as movies that will stand the test of time.
