Earlier this year a report came up suggesting that James Gunn’s upcoming “Superman” film boasted a rather insane budget of $363.8 million.

It was first cited in The Columbus Business Journal before people on Reddit tracked it back to a Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit listing on a government website.

At the time Gunn denied the budget talk. With the film’s first trailer release yesterday, the figure came up again and this time Gunn took to Threads for a more detailed denial, saying:

“I don’t know if it’s faked or if it’s just some weird form an assistant in the Cleveland office filled out putting random stuff in the blanks. I sent it to our accountants and financial producers when it first came out a year ago and no one knew what it was. I can just tell you it wasn’t anyone on our team!”

The denial comes as Gunn has just released the official figures for how much the trailer has been watched – the numbers considerably higher than even earlier estimates had suggested:

“With over 250 million views and a million social posts, Superman is officially the most viewed and the most talked about trailer in the history of both DC and Warner Bros. This is because of all of you: thank you! We’re incredibly grateful and, most of all, excited to share this movie with you in July. Happy Holidays!”

A different version of the trailer is currently playing in theaters before “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” which includes two new shots which have been released below – one of Mr. Terrific and the other of Lex Luthor and Ultraman.
