Jeff the Land Shark, the cute breakout character from the video game “Marvel Rivals,” is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In the original comics from 2018, Jeff is a genetically engineered creation of MODOK, a pet landshark (legged shark) adopted by the West Coast Avengers members Gwen Poole and Kate Bishop.
Jeff is a playable character in ‘Rivals’ with the power to make a whirlpool and then gobble up each enemy caught in the whirlpool’s radius before spitting them out wherever he wants such as off a cliff.
Speaking to the Phase Hero podcast, Marvel’s head of TV, streaming, and animation Brad Winderbaum says Jeff appearing in the MCU is a given, it’s just not clear when yet:
“You know it’s coming! You know it’s coming! I can’t say when, I can’t say where. But we’re all Jeff fans around here. Man is he fun to play!”
The talk comes as there have been teases of a young “Avengers” line-up coming together with Jeff potentially a part of that.
The game has already reached over 20 million active players since its December 5th wide release.
