James Wan’s production company Atomic Monster has landed the screen rights to the acclaimed 2024 indie video game “Pacific Drive” with plans to adapt it as a TV series.

Created by Cassandra Dracott the driving and survival game unfolds in a surreal and abandoned exclusion zone with the player’s car as their only companion in the dark and chilling world.

The game, which boasts an experimental electronic music soundtrack, was nominated for Best Debut Indie Game at the 2024 Game Awards last week.

Wan, Michael Clear and Rob Hackett will executive produce and the potential series has yet to set a specific network or streaming platform.

The show isn’t to be confused with the 1990s Australian Gold Coast-set trash soap drama series of the same name.

Atomic Monster recently premiered “Teacup” on Peacock, that work based on the novel “Stinger” by Robert R. McCammon. Reviews were mixed/positive.

Upcoming TV projects include espionage thriller “Copenhagen” with Simu Liu, an adaptation of Catherine Ryan Howard’s novel “56 Days” at Prime Video, a horror reboot of “The Munsters,” a TV series based on the”Robocop” franchise, and a live-action “Gargoyles” series for the Disney+ service.
