A new report at The Insneider indicates that Edward Allen Bernero has been tapped to serve as the showrunner for the upcoming “Nova” TV series at Marvel Studios.

Marvel Studios executive Brad Winderbaum confirmed several times that the long-rumored project has been in development this year but there’s been little in the way of seeming news since.

Bernero co-created series such as “Third Watch,” “Crossing Lines” and “Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior” and a producer of the “Criminal Minds” main series for its first six seasons. His TV credits have been rather limited in recent years though which makes this hiring unexpected.

Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige confirmed back in July the TV series revolves around Richard Rider and that the project is likely still 3-4 years away.

Over the weekend a report from DanielRPK indicated that Annihilus will be the villain of the “Nova” series. The character was reportedly considered for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” before they decided to go with the High Evolutionary instead.

Winderbaum has also previously indicated the “Nova” series will have “Star Trek” and “Battlestar Galactica”-style tones to it.
