Oscar winner Anne Hathaway and former wrestler turned Marvel alum Dave Bautista have officially signed on for the leading roles in “Wedding Sting” at Amazon MGM Studios.
“The Adam Project” scribe Jonathan Tropper, who’s currently working on “Wrecking Crew” starring Bautista, will pen the script which is inspired by a real life FBI sting.
That sting had agents who pretend to be a couple in order to infiltrate global criminal enterprises. It ended with a staged New Jersey wedding to which the crime bosses were invited and then subsequently arrested.
The film’s story will be refashioned to be a mismatched partner story of two undercover FBI agents with radically different styles being forced to pretend to cohabitate. Initially, they detest one another. By the end they learn to respect each other as the case winds to a close.
The project will be produced by Anthony and Joe Russo along with Hathaway and Bautista. The Russos are already in business with Amazon over their “Citadel” TV franchise.
Hathaway most recently filmed David Robert Mitchell’s “Flowervale Street” and will shortly join Christopher Nolan on his next film. She also has multiple other projects in development including new “Princess Diaries” and “Devil Wears Prada” sequels.
