How lucky did Star Trek get with Michelle Yeoh? She had a small recurring role in Star Trek: Discovery, then they locked her in to Section 31.
In the meantime, she won an Oscar for Everything, Everywhere, All At Once and became something of a household name.
So now Paramount has a huge star in their huge franchise. Can they leverage this appropriately? What do you think?
The full-length trailer for Star Trek: Section 31 has now dropped, and we get our first look at Yeoh reprising her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou.
Section 31 follows the former mirror universe tyrant as she finds herself back in Starfleet and deep inside Section 31 – the black ops division of supposedly benign and progressive organisation.
She ends up fighting to protect the United Federation of Planets from a massive new threat.
It stars Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rahl, Sam Richardson, Sven Ruygrok, Robert Kazinsky, Humberly Gonzalez, and James Hiroyuki Liao.
The new show is written by Craig Sweeney and directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi.
As with all new Trek, it is executive produced by Alex Kurtzman.
Star Trek: Section 31 will stream on Paramount+ from January 24th.
