Charlize Theron is set to join Christopher Nolan’s next directorial effort at Universal Pictures.
The “Bombshell” and “The Old Guard” star joins an already well-stacked cast that already includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson and Lupita Nyong’o.
As per usual, no details about her role have been revealed. Nolan wrote the script and is directing the project with plot details under tight lock and key. Shooting aims to begin early in 2025.
Various theories have been floated ranging from a period vampire tale to a reimagining of “The Prisoner” to a “Blue Thunder”-inspired LA helicopter cops story, then last week it was indicated by the trades that none of the rumors so far have actually touched upon what Nolan is doing.
Nolan is producing alongside his partner and wife Emma Thomas. Universal Pictures is set to release the mysterious film in cinemas on July 17th 2026.
Theron filmed “The Old Guard 2” a while back with that expected out sometime in 2025. She’s about to star alongside Taron Egerton on the survival thriller “Apex” at Netflix.
She is also potentially returning for “Fast XI” whenever that goes before cameras. Nolan’s film will shoot early in 2025.
