Hugo Weaving has revealed he’s returning to London in January for a two-and-a-half month shoot for the sixth season of “Slow Horses”.
The acclaimed Apple TV+ espionage series aired its fourth season this Fall, already wrapped production on its fifth season earlier this year and began production on a sixth season a few weeks ago – before the renewal was officially announced in late October.
Speaking at the International Film Festival of India in Goa (via Variety), Weaving confirmed he will reprise his role as Frank Harkness and says:
“Each season generally is a book, but also each season departs a little bit from those books. We’re getting to the point with ‘Slow Horses’ where the seasons are catching up to the amount of books that [Mick] Herron has written.”
The Harkness character is a key character in the sixth novel “Joe Country” with the new season combining that and the seventh novel “Slough House”.
Weaving also gave an update on the developing sequel to 1994’s legendary Australian film “The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert”. Weaving says:
“I was texting the director [Stephan Elliott] this morning. I’ve got another script to read. I’ve read about five drafts. It’s slowly getting closer to perhaps happening next year. Still lots of things to finalize, but it’s looking promising.”
Weaving was in India to present the thriller film “The Rooster” in which plays a hermit who may hold answers about a buried body discovered by a small-town cop.
Weaving is famous in India for his work as English cricket captain Douglas Jardine in the iconic 1984 Australian mini-series “Bodyline” produced by George Miller. He went on to star in two more acclaimed mini-series that Miller produced – “The Dirtwater Dynasty” and “Bangkok Hilton” which was an early role for Nicole Kidman.
