According to a report over at The Wrap, the team behind Master Of The Universe wants Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms, and early talks are happening. The live-action adaptation of the Mattel toy line has been in the works for years but it looks like it is finally happening.

Nicholas Galitzine is already set as He-Man, with Camila Mendes as Teela, and Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn. Skeletor is yet to be announced.

Masters Of The Universe will be directed by Travis Knight (Bumblebee, Kubo and the Two Strings) from a screenplay by Chris Butler. As the movie has been moving around streamers and studios there have been numerous versions of the script, including a version by Aaron and Adam Nee.

This version is shrouded in secrecy, but previous versions included an Earth-set tale involving He-Man being separated from his power sword. As always, at the heart of it, will be the eternal struggle to defend Castle Grayskull from Skeletor, and Prince Adam of Eternia leading his double life.

The property was previously adapted to the big screen in 1987 in something that has become a camp cult classic.

Robbie Brenner, Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch are producing Masters of the Universe for a worldwide theatrical release on June 5th 2026.
