Sylvester Stallone is reportedly nearing a deal to return for at least two more seasons of the mob drama series “Tulsa King” for the Paramount+ service.
Stallone executive produces and leads the cast of the series. Though the series has not been officially renewed at this point, Stallone’s deal lays the groundwork for a third and fourth season pickup.
Jay Will, Max Casella, Andrea Savage, Martin Starr, Garrett Hedlund, Vincent Piazza, Dana Delany, and Annabella Sciorra co-star while Neal McDonough and Frank Grillo joined the show in its second season.
That second season saw 5.4 million households tuning in within its first seven days, and setting a new record on the streaming service for largest number of viewers on a series’ premiere day.
The series follows New York mafia capo Dwight ‘The General’ Manfredi (Stallone), just after he is released from prison after 25 years and unceremoniously exiled to set up shop in Oklahoma. Dwight slowly builds a ‘crew’ from a group of unlikely characters to help him establish a new criminal empire.
“Yellowstone” mastermind Taylor Sheridan created “Tulsa King” though it has been “Boardwalk Empire” creator and “The Sopranos” writer/producer Terence Winter who was showrunner on the first season and writer on the second. Sheridan, Stallone, Winter, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Allen Coulter and Braden Aftergood executive produce.
