The upcoming sequel to 2021’s “Mortal Kombat” has been rated R for “strong bloody violence, gore and language”. The first film was also an R for “strong bloody violence and language throughout, and some crude references”. The title is set to open in cinemas on October 24th 2025. [Source: DFilm]
Untitled Fleetwood Mac Documentary
Following his music docos on a number of artists, Frank Marshall has set up the first fully authorized music documentary about Fleetwood Mac which has been set up at Apple. The band has sold more than 220 million records around the world.
Currently untitled, band members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, and the late Christine McVie (via archival interviews) participate and reflect on their fortuitous meeting in 1974 and the five decades that followed. [Source: Rolling Stone]
PlayStation Portal
Cloud streaming is coming to the PlayStation Portal with a beta for the service launching today in select countries (Australia is not on the list). Selected PlayStation Plus Premium members in those countries will be able to play a catalogue of 120 PS5 games via the cloud.
The games playable are limited to PS5 titles only, no PS3 or PS4 ones. Games will be streamed in 1080p and 60 fps, and will include all DualSense wireless controller features. Some other system features however won’t be out until full release. [Source: VGC]
King of Ashes
Netflix, Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment and Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground have reportedly won a highly competitive auction for the screen rights to S.A. Cosby’s forthcoming novel “King of Ashes”.
Amblin and Higher Ground will develop the book as a family crime drama TV series for Netflix. Cosby specialises in Southern noir crime fiction with the new book said to have hints of “The Godfather”. [Source: Variety]
Squid Game
Netflix has set a December 17th release date for its party royale mobile game “Squid Game: Unleashed” based on the Korean drama-thriller series. The title will be available to play on the Netflix app. Pre-registration for the game is up with players able to compete for the (virtual) prize pot of 45.6 billion Korean won.
