A new photo is out of Scarlett Johansson playing an ex-military officer in “Jurassic World Rebirth” ahead of its July 2025 release. Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Ed Skrein and Rupert Friend co-star in the Gareth Edwards-directed film.
Set five years after ‘Dominion,’ it follows an intrepid team sent to secure DNA samples from the three most colossal creatures across land, sea, and air after the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. [Source: Empire]
Superman
Filmmaker and DC Studios chief James Gunn says he won’t be at Brazil’s CCXP in early December due to scheduling conflicts. Gunn was rumored to be appearing for a panel regarding his upcoming “Superman” film.
As a result of that, it’s currently unknown if the film will still have any panel/appearance at CCXP. Rumors suggested that’s where the first trailer for the film might debut, though more recent talk has suggested a Christmas release. [Source: Threads]
Highest 2 Lowest
Spike Lee’s “Highest 2 Lowest,” which sees him re-team with Denzel Washington, is reportedly targeting a Summer 2025 release. A24 and Apple Studios are backing the film which Lee calls a reinterpretation of the iconic Akira Kurosawa crime thriller.
Alan Fox and Lee pen the script for the film about a New York record executive. The original followed an executive who becomes a victim of extortion when his chauffeur’s son is kidnapped by mistake and held for ransom. [Source: World of Reel]
Popeye
The first photos are out from a “raunchy and gory slasher” take on “Popeye” currently in the works at ITN Studios. In the film, the legend of Popeye (Stephen Murphy) haunts a group of councilors as they intend to open a summer camp.”
William Stead directs the film which follows in the wake of the success of the recent low-budget “Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey,” but is not a part of that film’s ‘Twisted Childhood Universe’.
