Former “Game of Thrones” alum Sophie Turner is reportedly in negotiations to star as Lara Croft in Amazon Prime Video’s new live-action “Tomb Raider” series.
The project hails from Emmy-winning “Fleabag” and “Killing Eve” creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Turner reportedly beat out the likes of Lucy Boynton, Emma Corrin and Mackenzie Davis for the role.
Filming on the series aims to begin in early 2025 with writer/executive producer Waller-Bridge potentially writing the entire series. The specifics of its setting are presently unclear.
The project has been a passion project for Waller-Bridge who has been a big fan of the games and wants to turn it into an epic globe-trotting series.
Waller-Bridge, Jenny Robins, Dmitri M. Johnson and Michael Scheel will executive produce along with rights holders Legendary Television and Crystal Dynamics.
The new series is separate from the recently released “Tomb Raider” anime series which hit Netflix the other week and has already been renewed. Hayley Atwell voices of Lara Croft.
Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander have played the character in the films, while Keeley Hawes and Camilla Luddington are among those who have voiced her in the games.
