HBO and Max Content CEO and Chairman Casey Bloys has announced released windows for two of the network’s most anticipated returning series in 2025.
Speaking during a 2025 programming slate presentation to journalists, Bloys confirmed that the second season of “The Last of Us” will be out Spring 2025 while the second season of James Gunn’s “Peacemaker” hits August 2025.
The dates are along expected lines, if anything potentially a bit sooner than anticipated. The first season of “The Last of Us” wrapped its shoot in July 2022 before airing in January 2023, so a 6-7 month gap between wrapping and airing.
The second season finished filming in August this year so February 2025 is the earliest we could expect it, though it’s more likely to be a March or April launch.
As previously indicated, the shorter seven episode second season will only adapt some of “The Last of Us Part II” game with the third season expected to be longer and bigger in scope.
The new run of “Peacemaker,” which shifts the action from the DCEU to Gunn’s new DC Universe, arrives just one month after the Gunn-directed “Superman” film hits cinemas in July next year.
