Actress Regina Hall says she’s thrilled about the new installment of the “Scary Movie” franchise.

Hall played Brenda Meeks in the first four films of the franchise which began in 2000. Over five films, the series has grossed over $896 million worldwide, and the first one was one of the highest grossing R-rated horror movies of all time.

As previously reported, the Wayans Brothers are reuniting for a new sequel to the slasher parody. The franchise was developed by the trio with Keenen Ivory Wayans writing and directing the first two films, while Marlon and Shawn Wayans co-starred and co-wrote those films.

Speaking with TV Insider, Hall says:

“I’m just very excited to know that the Wayans, who actually started the project out of their idea, are back on board and at the helm again. I’m excited for them. We’ll see if Brenda is in this new world. I’m thrilled at the possibility that the band could get back together again. That would be fun.”

Earlier this year, Hall’s co-star Anna Faris said that for her to return, one requirement would be that Hall also comes back. The new film will shoot next year for a theatrical release.

The Wayans and Rick Alvarez will pen and produce the movie.
