It has been a while, but the British tabloids have come up with a new rumored name to direct the next James Bond film.
The Sun is reporting that “Shame,” “Hunger” and “12 Years a Slave” director Steve McQueen and their sources indicate the Bond producers: “wanted to see if Steve would ever consider having a hand in one of the films and they got a positive response. It would be incredible if it came off.”
The outlet reached out to McQueen’s representatives to ask if the report was true, they claim to have received a ‘chirpy’ “no comment” in response.
The outlet indicates casting for the role of the next 007 is said to have restarted. However it’s anybody’s guess as to when the next Bond film might actually arrive.
In 2022, EON Productions chief Barbara Broccoli said “filming is at least two years away”. We’re there now and there has been no sign of any activity – the project remains in development with no talk of a script, no location scouting, no actors set, nothing.
In addition Broccoli has commitments to the “Sing Street” stage musical in Summer 2025 and it seems as though the earliest a Bond film coult hit cinemas is late 2026 and that’s only if things get moving immediately and fast.
McQueen’s newest film, “Blitz,” is now in cinemas and will hit Apple TV+ on November 22nd.
