A third movie in the “Orphan” horror franchise has been given the green light at Dark Castle Entertainment.
Isabelle Fuhrman will return to play her iconic role of Esther while writer David Coggeshall and director William Brent Bell also return after all three worked on 2022’s “Orphan: First Kill”.
Plot specifics are under wraps so it’s not clear if this will serve as another prequel like ‘First Kill’, or as a sequel to the original 2009 film. The two films have grossed a combined $125 million worldwide to date.
The first film followed a husband and wife who lose a baby and opt to adopt a nine-year-old- girl who isn’t as innocent as she claims to be. The twist ending was one of the wildest seen in major studio cinema in the past two decades.
The second film served as a prequel in which Fuhrman’s character escapes an Estonian psychiatric facility pretending to be the missing daughter of a wealthy family
Alex Mace will produce and Lionsgate is set to launch international sales on the project at the American Film Market this week.
