With Marvel Studios’ “Agatha All Along” having ended, there’s a part of the fanbase that seems to be saddened by the fact that they didn’t get as much in the way of fan service cameos throughout the run as they had hoped.
Mephisto, Speed and Hulkling were all rumored but didn’t show up at all, even as the series finale does lay the groundwork for one key character to return to the MCU.
Speaking with EW, showrunner Jac Schaeffer revealed that there were also once plans for Teddy Altman/Hulkling to appear in the “WandaVision” follow-up.
Specifically, Miles Gutierrez-Riley’s Eddie, boyfriend of Joe Locke’s teen, was going to be called Teddy:
“There were early conversations [about Hulkling]. [Eddie] was originally called Teddy because we were looking at the artwork and thinking about that. That was a Marvel decision to not have him be Hulkling for the purposes of our show.
Within our show, he is not Hulkling but we pivoted to Eddie because he is named after a person that is important to the writers’ room. It wasn’t sort of teasing the fans, it was one of those lovely tributes to somebody who matters to us.”
With the character thus not introduced, speculation returns to the character of The Hulk’s son Skaar seen briefly in “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” who will serve as the Hulkling of the MCU.
