Former “Game of Thrones” alum Sophie Turner and “Bohemian Rhapsody” actress Lucy Boynton are reportedly set to team up to test for the role of Lara Croft in Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming live-action “Tomb Raider” TV series.

The project hails from Emmy-winning “Fleabag” and “Killing Eve” creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Deadline broke the news of the testing, adding that’s not clear who else will be testing at present.

Both Emma Corrin (“Deadpool & Wolverine”) and Mackenzie Davis (“Speak No Evil”) were reportedly on a wishlist for the role, along with Boynton and Turner, but are not believed to be testing for it.

This matches reports in July which indicated that filming on the series aims to begin in early 2025 with writer/executive producer Waller-Bridge potentially writing the entire series.

The project has been a passion project for Waller-Bridge who has been a big fan of the games and wants to turn it into an ‘epic’ and ‘globe-trotting’ series.

Waller-Bridge, Jenny Robins, Dmitri M. Johnson and Michael Scheel will executive produce along with rights holders Legendary Television and game creators Crystal Dynamics.

The new series is in a universe separate from the recently released “Tomb Raider” anime series which hit Netflix the other week and has already been renewed. That series stars Hayley Atwell as the voice of Lara Croft.

Others who have taken on the role include Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander for the films, while Keeley Hawes and Camilla Luddington are among those who have voiced her in the games.
