A few days ago came the news that Marvel Studios’ Mahershala Ali-led “Blade” film had been delayed from its planned November 7th 2025 release.
It wasn’t at all surprising as a new director has not been announced and there’s still no word on when production will begin beyond a hoped for 2025.
Now, DanielRPK is reporting that the studio is working on a brand-new script for the film, and it’s not clear if writer Eric Pearson remains onboard.
Pearson marked the sixth official writer to have a go at the script following drafts by Michael Green, Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Michael Starrbury, Beau DeMayo and Nic Pizzolatto.
Marvel’s Kevin Feige said back in July: “the most important thing for us is not rushing it and making sure we are making the right Blade movie.”
Pearson’s draft, which was allegedly set in the present day, was said to have been the most satisfying yet – though obviously more work needs to be done.
Yann Demange and Bassam Tariq have both been attached to direct at points but have exited.
