Last summer, “Suits” ended up finding massive success on Netflix and – despite years having passed – interest was enough that a spin-off titled “Suits: L.A.” was greenlit and is on the way.

The same won’t be happening for Robert and Michele King’s acclaimed darkly comedic psychological horror series “Evil” as it’s seemingly too late for anything to be done.

The show followed a forensic psychologist (Herbers), a priest (Mike Colter) and a tech expert (Aasif Mandvi) hired by the Catholic Church to investigate supernatural events. Michael Emerson, Christine Lahti, Andrea Martin, Patrick Brammall and Kurt Fuller co-starred.

Part procedural, part character-based study, it was often imaginative, very adult, wacky, and eccentric series that was never afraid to frequently take big swings. It ended its fourth and final season in late August this year with 50 episodes in total produced since it debuted on CBS in 2019.

There have been fan campaigns to try and save the show, especially as Robert King previously revealed they had ideas for ‘two more seasons’ with financials, more than anything else, leading to the show’s demise.

Recently though, the first two seasons became available to stream on Netflix and have been a hit on the streamer – quickly growing the calls for more seasons. In an interview with Screen Rant though, Robert King says sadly the success has come at the wrong time:

I’m disappointed because they found it too late. Why can’t we back up history about a year? Because a lot of the fans [that] came are probably a little too late to save the show . Although never say never, who knows?… The streaming world mixed with the old traditional world has created some very odd bedfellows and children. But anything could come out of this.”

The creators went into the fourth season knowing it would be the last and were granted four additional episodes on top of the originally planned ten episodes to close out the story. The series does end fairly succinctly, though leaves the door open for more.

The show’s first two seasons are currently available to stream on Netflix, with all four seasons on the Paramount+ service.
