Deadpool & Wolverine
Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool & Wolverine” has been a smash hit in its digital release – the title had the highest-selling first week ever for an R-rated film on domestic digital platforms – beating incumbent “John Wick: Chapter 4”.
D&W arrived on digital 68 days after it bowed theatrically and went on to gross $1.33 billion. It is coming to 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on October 22nd. [Source: Deadline]
The Hider
Universal Pictures has scored the rights to Julianna Baggott’s short story “The Hider” with Robert Downey Jr. eyed to star. “Ant-Man and the Wasp” scribes Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari will adapt the script. Story details are underw wraps, but Downey Jr., Susan Downey and Amanda Burrell will produce. [Source: Deadline]
A Thousand Blows
Hulu has premiered the teaser trailer for the 19th century London-set period drama “A Thousand Blows” which hails from acclaimed British screenwriter Steven Knight (“Peaky Blinders”) who serves as creator, writer, and executive producer.
Malachi Kirby and Francis Lovehall play two friends from Jamaica who get drawn into the city’s boxing scene. The story also has an all-female gang called The Forty Elephants and a dangerous boxer and criminal kingpin named Sugar Goodson (Stephen Graham).
The Six Triple Eight
The trailer has been released for Tyler Perry’s WW2 drama “The Six Triple Eight” starring Kerry Washington and releasing December 20th. The film follows the first and only Women’s Army Corps unit of color to serve overseas in WWII.
