By A few more details have emerged in regards to Christopher Nolan’s decision to keep his next project at Universal Pictures.
According to Puck News, Universal’s Donna Langley was the only studio chief allowed to read the script, Warner Bros. Pictures co-chiefs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy weren’t allowed to even look at it.
It seems his old home at Warners was never even considered for the next film. That comes as a blow to De Luca who has been very open about wanting Nolan to return ‘home’ after the very public fallout over the previous regime’s theatrical strategy for “Tenet”.
Warners has been making efforts on that front – post-production work on “Oppenheimer” was done on the Warners lot, while Nolan scored a seven-figure ‘royalty’ check to make up for the mess with “Tenet”.
However Nolan is staying with Universal for now following “Oppenheimer” which led to that film grossing nearly $1 billion worldwide and winning seven Oscars including Best Picture and Best Director.
Though he could eventually return one day, Nolan’s exit from Warners is seen as a major loss for the studio.
