Max’s controversial animated series, the adult “Scooby-Doo” spin-off series “Velma,” has seemingly been cancelled at the streamer after two seasons and a just-released Halloween special.

Background artist Davey Cummings shared a now deleted post on Instagram this week (via Bloody Disgusting) saying: “There will not be a Season 3, but I hope I get to work with these amazing talented people again one day.”

Max has yet to release an official statement so this isn’t confirmed as yet. Charlie Grandy serves as showrunner.

The adult animated comedy series spin on the property stars Mindy Kaling as the voice of Velma Dinkley with the series telling the origin story of her and the Mystery Inc. gang.

The animated series made its debut last year and became a lightning rod for discussion and derision with critics mixed and audience polls hit by review bombing which turned it into the lowest-rated TV series across the entire IMDb at one point.

Kaling voices Velma with the cast including Glenn Howerton, Sam Richardson, Constance Wu, Russell Peters, Melissa Fumero, Sarayu Blue, Jane Lynch, Wanda Sykes, Cherry Jones, Frank Welker, Nicole Byer, Gary Cole, Andia Winslow, and Sara Ramirez.
