Warner Bros. Pictures has “Superman” on the way in 2025, “The Batman – Part II” and “Supergirl” in 2026, and potentially other films coming after.
But that may not be fast enough for Warner Bros. Discovery boss David Zaslav. A new report at The Insneider indicates Zaslav wants the DCU version of Batman moving forward as soon as possible in order to better compete with Marvel.
That means the pressure is potentially on to introduce the new DCU Batman – be it in the proposed “The Brave and the Bold” film or earlier. One idea that was reportedly floated is for Robert Pattinson to become the DCU’s Dark Knight following the sequel’s release – an idea that has apparently been mooted.
Even so, it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility. After all, Reeves’ proposed Arkham Asylum-set TV series is said to be part of the DCU, not the universe of his “The Batman” films or the recently premiered “The Penguin” series.
In addition, nothing in “The Batman” is stopping it from potentially being retroactively made the first DCU film – the bigger question will be regarding Pattinson and whether he will want to potentially spend the next decade playing the role.
Andy Muschietti was announced as director of “The Brave and the Bold” last year, before “The Flash” came out and was a critical and commercial bomb.
The report follows on from a rumor over the weekend that a Mr. Freeze spin-off film was being considered, a report that DC Studios co-chief James Gunn himself has having “no truth to it at all”.
