Lionsgate has premiered the first trailer for the female-driven “John Wick” spin-off feature “Ballerina”. Shot almost two years ago, it was originally slated for this past June and will now open mid-2025.
Ana de Armas stars as a young female assassin trained in the traditions of the Ruska Roma who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family.
Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, the late Lance Reddick, David Castaneda, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, and Keanu Reeves co-star.
The delay was to accommodate the filming of additional action sequences and reshoots, with franchise steerer Chad Stahelski helping guide those sequences alongside the film’s director, Len Wiseman.
Various reports have suggested issues with the film and the additional photography aims to improve the project which has the involvement of the core “John Wick” team (unlike “The Continental” series which did not).
“From the World of John Wick: Ballerina” will open in cinemas on June 6th 2025.
