Earlier this year the “Sonic the Hedgehog” film franchise expanded with the “Knuckles” spin-off TV series. In December, a third film is coming to cinemas.

That won’t be the end of it either if those involved in the franchise have their say. Participating in today’s Sonic Central presentation, the third film’s director Jeff Fowler and producer Toby Ascher say that this December’s “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” is certainly no trilogy capper.

Though Paramount has yet to make any announcements about the franchise’s future, Ascher hints (via Comicbook.com) that there’s more to come saying: “There’s such a rich universe of stories. I don’t see us slowing down at all.”

The third film will see Keanu Reeves voice the role of Shadow the Hedgehog played by none other than Keanu Reeves and today the actor has officially been announced as the voice of Shadow for the game “Sonic X Shadow Generations”. You can hear his work as the character in the trailer below.

Chaos will be getting an animated web series titled “Chaos Tales” which span eight episodes and are dubbed ‘whimsical shorts’.

Also announced was “Sonic Rumble,” a Sonic the Hedgehog party game for mobile and PC. Up to 32 players can face each other in a variety of different challenges.

New characters are coming to existing “Sonic” mobile games, Sonic Speed Simulator will come to “Roblox,” a Shadow the Hedgehog costume is coming to “Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble,” and the upcoming game “Two Point Museum” will have several Sonic themed items.

SEGA also has new Sonic-themed collaborations with LEGO, Topgolf, Jakks Pacific, PDP, First 4 Figures, HJC Helmets, Louis de Guzman, and Bushiroad Creative on the way.

A DC x Sonic collaboration will see Sonic characters as fan-favorite DC super heroes across multiple issues – including Shadow as Batman, Sonic as The Flash, Amy as Wonder Woman, Silver as Green Lantern, and Tails as Cyborg. Merchandise such as clothing and toys are planned.

The “Sonic X Shadow Generations” game is currently set to release on October 22nd. “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” will debut in cinemas in December.
