Paramount Pictures has announced that the second trailer for Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator II” will be coming online tomorrow, and with that have released a 30-second spot teasing that launch.
The trailer was viewed by 128 million around the world across social platforms in its first 24 hours, making it Paramount’s best launch to date and easily beating “Top Gun: Maverick” with 75 million views during the same time span.
That said, the trailer also generated a lot of backlash over its choice of music (Jay Z and Kanye West’s “No Church in the Wild”) and overlong three-minute-plus length – something a second trailer has a chance to correct.
The $300 million+ budgeted feature has been test screening to very good results according to the trades. Scott himself has dubbed it “the best thing I’ve ever made…. One of the best things.”
Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Connie Nielsen and Denzel Washington lead the cast of the new film which opens in some international markets on November 15th and in U.S. cinemas on November 22nd.
