Today is Batman Day, and to celebrate the occasion a video has been released that mashes up the Sonic the Hedgehog and Batman franchises.
Unveiled via the official Sonic The Hedgehog social media account on X and through SEGA’s YouTube account – the clip sees Shadow the Hedgehog turned into the Dark Knight as he emerges from the shadows and stops a crook in Gotham City.
Shadow is getting major airtime in the back half of this year. Late October comes the video game “Sonic x Shadow: Generations,” a remake of “Sonic: Generations” that updates that 2011 game for modern systems, but adds a whole bunch of levels which put players in the shoes of Shadow.
Then on December 3rd comes the “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” film which will see Shadow as major new inclusion, that version set to be voiced by Keanu Reeves.
The brief tribute video is vaguely reminiscent of “Batman: The Animated Series” but sadly only clocks in at around 15-20 seconds and isn’t a tease for a larger Batman/Sonic crossover to come.
