Conclave
Edward Berger’s Vatican thriller “Conclave”, starring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow and Isabella Rossellini, is moving up a week. The film, which was set for a platform release from November 1st, will now open as a wide release on October 25th.
Following film festival premieres, the movie is currently scoring a stunning 97% (8.1/10) on Rotten Tomatoes. Fiennes plays Cardinal Lawrence who, tasked with running the process of selecting a new Pope, finds himself at the center of a conspiracy. [Source: Deadline]
September 5
Paramount Pictures has acquired worldwide distribution rights, some parts of Europe excluded, for Tim Fehlbaum’s “September 5” following its successful Fall film festival run. A U.S. platform release will commence November 27th.
Peter Sarsgaard, John Magaro and Leonie Benesch star in the thriller about ABC Sports’ coverage of the 1972 Munich Olympics terrorist attack. The standoff became the first live-televised coverage of an act of terrorism, with all sorts of accompanying moral and ethical dilemmas for the journalists on the ground. [Source: THR]
The Batman
Dylan Clark, a producer of both the recent “The Batman” film and its upcoming spin-off series “The Penguin,” indicates a second spin-off series is in the works, casually saying he and director Matt Reeves have the “other series that we’re continuing to do”. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed
A new gameplay trailer is out for “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed,” a new video game based on the ‘Mutant Mayhem’ era of the franchise that hits PC and consoles on October 18th.
CBS
CBS has released a number of Fall premiere promos today starting with the second season of the Justin Hartley-led series “Tracker”. In that he plays lone-wolf survivalist Colter Shaw who roams the country as a ‘reward seeker’. It returns October 13th.
Then comes the trailer for “Elsbeth,” the newest “The Good Wife” spin-off which follows Carrie Preston’s eccentric attorney Elsbeth Tascioni. It’s back for its second run October 17th.
Finally there’s a promo for the new “Young Sheldon” spin-off “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” which releases October 17th on the network. It follows Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment) as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting and marriage.
