Sony has dominated gaming conversation the past two weeks with the spectacular failure of “Concord,” the stunning reviews for “Astro Bot” and the reveal of the PS5 Pro and its eye-watering $700 price.
In regards to the latter, a common response on comment boards has been that Nintendo will release details of its Switch successor soon and mop the floor with Pro’s price point.
A new report today suggest that might be right. A scooper colorfully named moistycharlie (via Reddit & BGR), who correctly predicted both the announcement date and price point for the PS5 Pro before either was revealed, claims to have information regarding Nintendo’s new hardware.
According to their sources Nintendo’s Switch 2 will be announced early next month and will come in at a base price of $400. They also add that the console will also come in two different SKUs (possibly one all digital, one able to take physical cartridges).
To put that in comparison, the original Switch launched at $299 with an LCD screen and 32GB of on-board storage. The OLED edition jumped up to $349.
The Nintendo Switch released in 2017 and has shipped over 143 million units worldwide. It is Nintendo’s best-selling home console and the third-best-selling game console of all time, behind only the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS.
