Several months after it was reported that Keanu Reeves had been cast as Shadow in the upcoming third “Sonic the Hedgehog” film, the official TikTok account for the movie seems to have confirmed it.
The account posted a clip from the original “Sonic the Hedgehog” film in which Sonic watches 1994’s “Speed” with a clip of Reeves shown. Sonic then praises Keanu, calling him a national treasure.
On top of that the TikTok is captioned ‘foreSHADOWing’. All this comes before the film’s first trailer which is likely to reveal shadow in all his glory. Several sources are suggesting the trailer is dropping online as early as this Tuesday.
Shadow was teased in the post-credits scene of “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” though the character did not speak. The third film wrapped its shoot in March and will see the regulars back, including Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails and Idris Elba as Knuckles.
On the human side Jim Carrey is back as Dr. Robotnik along with James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, Lee Majdoub, Tom Butler and Alyla Browne.
Joining them for the first time to the franchise are Krysten Ritter, Sofia Pernas, Cristo Fernández, James Wolk and Jorma Taccone.
“Sonic the Hedgehog 3” hits cinemas on December 20th and will be preceded by the new “Sonic x Shadow Generations” game coming in October.
