Netflix has released the first trailer for Legendary Television’s animated series “Tomb Raider: The Legend Of Lara Croft” which will premiere on the service on October 10th.
Marvel and “Mission: Impossible” alum Hayley Atwell voices the iconic role of British adventurer Lara Croft in the series based on the famed video game franchise.
The anime is set after the events of the 2013 to 2018 video game reboot trilogy with Lara now having become a full-fledged treasure hunter.
In the series, Lara has abandoned her friends to embark on increasingly more perilous solo adventures. But she must return home when a dangerous and powerful Chinese artifact is stolen from Croft Manor by a thief with an uncanny personal connection.
Her daring pursuit will take her on an adventure around the world and to the depths of forgotten tombs, where she will be forced to confront her true self, and decide just what kind of hero she wants to become.
Allen Maldonado and Earl Baylon also star, the latter reprising his role as Jonah from the games. Tasha Huo (“The Witcher: Blood Origin”) serves as showrunner on the series which is produced by Legendary, game developer Crystal Dynamics and animated by Powerhouse Animation Studios (“Castlevania”).
Dmitri M. Johnson, Timothy I. Stevenson, Jacob Robinson, Dallas Dickinson, Noah Hughes, Howard Bliss and Jen Chambers executive produce. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is currently writing a live-action TV adaptation of the franchise for Amazon Prime Video.
