Long-running anime series “Attack on Titan” is set to get a slightly reworked ending with “Attack on Titan The Movie: THE LAST ATTACK” which hits Japan on November 8th.
Based on the award-winning manga by Haime Isayama, “Attack on Titan” tells the story of humanity forced to retreat behind the towering walls of a fortified city to escape the massive, man-eating Titans that lurked outside.
Only the heroic members of the Scout Regiment dared to stray behind the safety of the walls – but even those brave warriors seldom returned alive. The anime series launched in 2013 and wrapped late last year.
The show’s fourth and final season consisted of three parts – a 16-episode block, which aired in late 2020/early 2021, a 12-episode block which aired in early 2022, and two extended specials which aired in 2023.
Clocking in at 145 minutes, ‘The Last Attack’ is essentially a reworking of those two specials – reconstructing and tweaking it into one feature film which is getting a theatrical release.
In addition, the visuals and audio have been updated from the original versions for the release in which the world’s fate hangs in the balance as Eren unleashes the ultimate power of the Titans.
With a burning determination to eliminate all who threaten Eldia, he leads an army of Colossal Titans towards Marley. A motley crew of his former comrades and enemies scramble to halt his deadly mission.
Crunchyroll is expected to distribute the film when it goes to digital.
