Apple TV+ has premiered the teaser trailer for its new seven-part TV series “Disclaimer” which has been entirely penned and directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron (“Gravity,” “Children of Men,” “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”).
Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Renée Knight, the series tells the story of respected television documentary journalist Catherine Ravenscroft (Cate Blanchett) who has built a career on revealing the misdeeds and transgressions of others.
One day she receives a mysterious and lurid novel that sets her as the main character and reveals all of her deepest, darkest secrets. As she seeks the writer’s true identity, she must confront her past before it destroys her family and everything she’s built in the present.
Kevin Kline plays the vengeful author, Sacha Baron Cohen plays Catherine’s lawyer husband, Kodi Smit-McPhee is Catherine’s son, “Squid Game” breakout Hoyeon Jung is Catherine’s hard-working aide, while Lesley Manville (“The Crown”), Louis Partridge (“Enola Holmes”) and Leila George (“Mortal Engines”) have roles tied to the mystery of Catherine’s past.
Additionally, Indira Varma (“Game of Thrones,” “Obi-Wan Kenobi”) has been set as the narrator. The cinematography is being handled by Oscar winner Emmanuel Lubezki (“The Revenant,” “Gravity”) and Oscar nominee Bruno Delbonnel (“The Tragedy of Macbeth,” “Inside Llewyn Davis”), while Oscar winner Finneas O’Connell is handling the score.
Cuaron calls it a seven-hour-long movie and the series will premiere at the Venice Film Festival later this month. “Disclaimer” premieres October 11th on the Apple TV+ service.
