Marvel Studios’ upcoming “Thunderbolts*” film marks the last of the ‘Phase Five’ film titles that began with last year’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”.
Arguably the least talked about segment of Marvel’s San Diego Comic Con presentation this weekend, the presentation was sandwiched in between more high profile films on either side.
It was up to actor David Harbour, showing up in costume as Red Guardian, to do a bunch of the heavy lifting. Harbour has spoken about the film before, previously teasing to ComicBook.com in late 2022 that there’s a “bomb drop thing we add to the universe” and says it’s a: “very exciting for the movie to do at the end of this particular phase that we’re ending”.
Outside of this weekend’s presentation, Harbour spoke with the same outlet now that production in complete and again teased that the film will alter the MCU:
“Our characters are going to interact with something that we don’t really understand, and it fundamentally changes the course of the way things expand. That’s all I’m saying. Oh my God, I’m getting calls tomorrow.”
The film also stars Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Harrison Ford as Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/ US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, and Lewis Pullman as Bob/Sentry.
“Thunderbolts*” is expected to hit cinemas on May 2nd 2025.
