Todd McFarlane’s long in the works “Spawn” movie will be titled “King Spawn” with the comic creator and film producer Jason Blum revealing the title today via a picture of the script cover on social media.
The posting suggests the script is finished and production could start soon, it needs to if Blumhouse chief Jason Blum’s prediction of getting the film into cinemas in 2025 is to be met.
With San Diego Comic Con starting in the next few days, many are wondering if an announcement will hit this week. Matt Mixon, Malcolm Spellman & Scott Silver have penned the script.
The title refers to one of the spinoff titles in the comic franchise and sees Spawn pressured to take the throne of Hell after one of the most dangerous beings in history escapes from the underworld.
Warner Bros. previously released a “Spawn” live-action movie in 1997 to middling reviews and $88 million at the box office. An HBO adult animated series released at the same time scored much more acclaim and ran for three seasons.
McFarlane has been teasing the possibility of a new movie for nearly a decade.
