Netflix has premiered the first trailer for their animated series “Terminator Zero” premiering August 29th. Production IG is handling the animation.
The eight-episode series unfolds over two time periods – 1997 when Skynet first goes online, and 2022 when the war has been raging for decades.
Caught between the future and this past is a soldier (Sonoya Mizuno) sent back in time by resistance leader The Prophet (Ann Dowd) to change the fate of humanity.
She arrives in 1997 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee (André Holland) who works to launch Kokoro (Rosario Dawson), a new AI system designed to compete with Skynet.
As Malcolm navigates the moral complexities of his creation, he is hunted by an unrelenting assassin from the future which forever alters the fate of his three children.
“Deadwood” and “Justified” star Timothy Olyphant will voice The Terminator in this series which hails from showrunner Mattson Tomlin (“The Batman: Part II”). David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger executive produce.
